Courses/CS 461/Museum of unintended consequences/Side-effects in Medicine
From CSWiki
Probably the most common form of unintended consequences are side effects in medicine. Every medicament has a long list of possible side-effects and adverse effects. The correct term is adverse drug reaction (abbreviated ADR) which describes the unwanted, negative consequences sometimes associated with the use of medications.
Dangerous bacteria strains which are resistant against antibiotics are also an unintended consequence of indiscriminate use of antibiotics. Originally the use of antibiotics was meant to heal and help people, but the indiscriminate use has yielded hardier strains of bacteria and viruses that do not respond to pharmaceutical treatment anymore.
