Netlogo is pretty interesting little simulation tool. Although, I'm not sure how useful it would be in teaching programming concepts to highschool kids. Modelling basic movements and behaviors seems deceptively simple; the hard part (for me at least) is taking what you want to simulate, and then breaking it down into the simple behaviors to model.

For the first homework I settled for adding a predator-prey relationship to the rabbits-grass-weeds model, in the form of wolves. I would like to try a model with a number of animals vying over different resources. Time to look for some interesting examples in nature.
