[edit] CS 575 Human Issues in Computing (4)

Prerequisites: CS 386, 390. Methods and techniques for maximizing the usability of computer systems and practices. User centered design, designing for diverse users, physiological, psychological, and sociological issues. Human factors in software development.

[edit] Grading and finals schedule

There will be no specific assignments this quarter. Your job will be to investigate some of the areas related to the course subject matter and present them to the class. It will be up to you to decide how much or how little you want to do.

Remember that the overall objective of the class is to explore the very broad area of Human Isues in Computing. There are a great many interesting topics to look at. Find ones that interest you and bring them into class.

See Abbott for my contact information and grading policy.

[edit] User Pages and course pages

I'd like you each to create a user account. (That will be required before the system allows you to submit your homework.) When you create a user account, please be sure to enter your email address. That allows someone to contact you through the wiki. (See Contacting users for how to do that.) Also create a user page and make sure to include your email address there too.

I'd also like you each to create a course page for yourself as a subpage of this page. (Please put your email address on your course page as well, making three places where you will have entered your email address.)

To create your course page enter [[/your name/]] below in the list of course pages. (Please enter your page in alphabetical order.) Entering [[/your name/]] will create a page "your name" as a subpage of this page.

Course pages: [[/your name/]] , Cheralyn Cofer, Duy Nguyen, Ren, Robert, Roudabeh, Ruben Campos, Saleh, Trafecanty John, Yuehong, ZhengHui Hu, Farrukh Shakil, Andre Liv, Jules Nya Baweu, Martin Olsen, Jose Amenero, G Hagos, Chang-Yin Lin

[edit] Course plan

The subject matter of this course ranges from the trivial (how to set up user interfaces) to the very broad—see topics on the Resources page.

Each week (see Weekly schedule) we (you) will pick a number of these topics. One or more class members will present material about the selected topics. The rest of us will participate in a discussion.
