The development a virtual tour system that creates an immersive 3D environment out of 2D images that can be used through the internet. This system or internet application will be based on an extended version of a technique called “Tour Into the Picture” (TIP). It is a technique that takes a single 2D image and creates a 3D space for user to be able walk through and within the boundaries of that particular image. This technique however only lends itself to very specific images, but the extended version of this technique can create the same type of effect on almost any image. Both of these techniques however are restricted to single images. The planned system takes various images of the same scene and creates one complete 3D environment that users can walk-through in any direction including completely around a particular object if enough information is provided by user. It is basically an end-user virtual-reality application that provides a virtual tour into a user-input scene.
