Position Name: NTIA/OSM/Spectrum Services Division Intern

Desired Majors: Computer Science, Information Technology

Desired Skills:

Programming language experience is highly preferred. In addition, there is a preference for students in their last year of undergraduate or graduate work, with career interests in spectrum management. A security clearance is required.

Brief Description of Intern Responsibilities

The Division handles all information technology needs, classified and unclassified, for the Office of Spectrum Management. As part of the President's Spectrum Initiative, the Division is also taking the lead in modernizing and automating spectrum assignment and certification processes, so that government users may more rapidly obtain decisions. In addition, it is spearheading efforts to automate coordination with commercial users regulated by the Federal Communications Commission. The intern would work with experienced IT professionals on programming issues and network and end-user troubleshooting. The internship has the possibility of being extended into the fall semester.

The Summer 2006 is scheduled to start on Friday, June 2, 2006 and end on Saturday, August 12, 2006. I am the coordinator of the MURF Undergraduate Research Fellowships program at Caltech. I would like to share with the members of the MURF mailing list the following message from Ms. Brandi Jones, Director of Minority Student Education at Caltech:

Caltech is pleased to announce our fifth annual GradPreview Program which will be held November 10 - 12, 2005 on our campus in Pasadena. The event focuses on underrepresented undergraduate students interested in graduate programs in Engineering, Chemistry, and Biology. Your students will have the opportunity to meet with Caltech faculty and current graduate students, tour labs, and learn more about applying to graduate school.
